Stories of Hope Round-Up

NEDA Communications Team

Our Stories of Hope are meant to explore the many different paths and journeys in the road to recovery. Each person has a different experience to share, creating insights and experiences for others to feel inspired from. The Stories of Hope remind us that full recovery is possible, and there is help and support available to those struggling with an eating disorder. Here are some of our favorite quotes of recovery from the writers.

Kate Ryan Singer

“I have been blessed with an incredible second chance, and today I choose to use each breath to carry the message that there is hope. There is hope and healing and laughter and joy…. and it’s out there just waiting for us to surrender to it. That’s right…. surrender.”

-Kate Ryan Singer

“I have since learned that recovery is not its own entity. There are several pieces of recovery that tie in with one another and they all require attention, no matter how unimportant other people may feel those pieces are. Everything plays a role.”

 Emily

“I love my body. I love that it housed my two boys. I love that it belongs to my husband. I love that even after years of treating it wrongly, it hasn’t let me down. And slowly, I am learning to walk in that love. One forkful, one gentle embrace, one prayer at a time”

-Emily Wierenga

Benji

“More than anything, I have learned that falling a few times is mandatory for learning how to walk.”

-Benji Young

Amanda

“The importance of recovery can never be overstated. What is important to remember is that it is a journey, not a destination.”
